When we first met with Elwood + Kedan about their shoot all they wanted photos of was baby Nadek by himself for his 1st birthday. They also told us their story of how they were blessed with little man! Kedan's sister offered to be their surrogate + egg donor--talk about the best sister EVER right?! Anyway, they decided 'Okay, let's do this!' Unfortunately they suffered a miscarriage before little Nadek was on the way but after a fun gender reveal party and tying the knot, baby boy was born and their lives changed forever! They fell absolutely in love with their little SONshine and promised to be the best dads they could be!
We encouraged them to take some shots as a family at the beginning and we promised we'd still get awesome shots of Nadek for the second part of our shoot. They agreed and we couldn't be happier they did because I mean look at HOW CUTE THEY ARE! Haha, Nadek was definitely super cooperative and kept smiling and giggling at us behind the camera! We totally loved their outfits too! We were so happy to hear that regardless of how nervous they were to do photos together they actually had fun and loved how they turned out!
We ended the shoot with the photos they had asked for initially and are so happy we were able to accomplish their vision. Nadek gets his first name because it's Kedan spelled backward but his middle name comes after a past ali'i--or chief--of O'ahu. They created these Kahili to use in the shoot which signified power from the divinities for the ali'i in ancient Hawaii. They also had a lei po'o made for him and tied a little baby sized malo on him. It was way too cute!
